AN EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASE

Below are different types of educational technology that I have created. They demonstrate my passion for true student understanding. One of my main educational goals is to produce students who are twenty-first century learners. I believe this is done through engaging, performance-based assessments, integration of technology into student learning, and building a strong relationship which is essential in building the foundation for life-long learning.

RSS Reflection

For an entire semester, we kept a RSS page using iGoogle (which is no longer in use). We had required feeds that needed to be added as well as ones we were interested in. I was very unfamiliar with RSS pages, so this assignment was very new to me. The reflection explains my experience throughout the semester and what I learned.

Virtual Storybook

This assignment was to incorporate a major learning theory and technology. I created this virtual story book with Audacity (an audio editing program) and Windows Movie Maker. It showcases the Observational Learning Theory and how a child can learn while watching others. I used my son, who was 2 at the time, and taught him new signs while reading a picture book.

Technology in the Classroom

This website explains my history of technology in the classroom. It explains what technology I'm comfortable using and how they can be used in the classroom setting. I also discuss where I see myself in the future, specifically how my knowledge in technology can benefit students.

Analysis of Technology Innovation

Choosing a piece of technology that can be used in the classroom, with a purpose, can be a chore. For this assignment, we had to do just this and write an analysis of the technology and how we could/would use it in the classroom. I chose to analyze Inspiration which is a graphic organizer software. The overall response from the students was very positive. They enjoyed the pre-made ones as well as having the option to create their own.

WebQuest

This WebQuest was created on Weebly. A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the web. The purpose of the quest is to learn about healthy eating. It is geared to upper elementary students. The students will be broken into different groups and assigned a different food group. It incorporates group work, individual analysis, and then collaboration. Students work with a variety of partners, but are graded individually.

Interactive Lesson - Plagiarism

I created this interactive lesson on plagiarism to be used in a variety of ways. It is geared towards middle school students. It could be shown at a professional developmental session and then each teacher uses it at the beginning of the year. It could also be shown at a back to school night to inform parents the consequences of copying others work. I created this using Weebly.
