Learning is an ongoing process. It is my professional goal to help children become independent learners with a lifelong pursuit of education.

Learning must occur in a supportive, stimulating and secure environment. The classroom must be a safe place to take intellectual risks. Everyone will be viewed as capable learners whose ideas are valued and respected.

Respect for self and others must be incorporated into the learning community. Students need to learn and model how to work cooperatively with each other. They must also be responsible for their own actions and behaviors by becoming active participants in problem solving.

Students are continuously faced with new opportunities and challenges. This means that I must incorporate technology into the classroom so that I am always able to meet the needs of my students in an ever-changing world.

Inclusion in the classroom is very important. This pertains to a mixture of teaching strategies and assessment to help reach educational goals for all students. Inclusion can include the diversity of students in the class, from special needs to minority groups.

New concepts and ideas can be taught in a variety of ways. As this learning takes place management of the classroom is imperative. The students will be tested in self-control and the ability to stay on task.  The teacher needs to be able to keep control of the classroom but allow for individual creativity.

Communication with parents or guardians is essential. Families can provide a successful link between school and home. Parents should be encouraged and welcomed to be active in their child’s educational experiences.
